Progression Memory Challenge

The Progression Memory Challenge shows you a chord progression, then hides it. Recreate it from memory to test your recall. Start with 3-chord progressions and work up to longer sequences.

Break progressions into functional chunks (tonic-predominant-dominant), learn the Roman numeral pattern instead of individual chord names, and practice recall at increasing intervals. The challenge tool applies these techniques.

Memorizing common progressions lets you play hundreds of songs from memory, recognize patterns in new songs faster, and improvise with confidence. Most popular music uses a small set of recurring harmonic patterns.
