How do I train my ear to identify intervals?
The Intervals tab plays two notes and asks you to identify the interval between them. Practice ascending, descending, and harmonic (simultaneous) intervals across all 12 standard intervals.
What are the most important intervals to learn first?
Start with the perfect intervals (unison, octave, fourth, fifth) which are easiest to identify. Then add major and minor thirds (the building blocks of chords), followed by seconds, sixths, and sevenths.
How do I develop relative pitch?
The Pitch tab plays notes and asks you to identify them relative to a reference tone. Daily 10-minute sessions build relative pitch over time. Most musicians see noticeable improvement within 2-4 weeks of consistent practice.
What is melodic dictation?
Switch to the Dictation tab to transcribe melodies note-by-note by ear. Start with short 3-4 note melodies in a single key using stepwise motion. As you improve, the tool increases melody length, adds leaps, and introduces chromaticism.
How do I practice identifying scale degrees by ear?
The Scale Degree tab plays a reference tonic note, then a target note. Your task is to identify which scale degree the target note is. Start with the first five degrees (do-re-mi-fa-sol) before adding the full scale.
